Case Studies
What does Quikonnex look like in the everyday education space? Please consider the following case study scenarios.
Jenny, classroom teacherJenny is a classroom teacher who wakes up one morning ill. Unable to make it into the school, she access her board's Quikonnex portal to book the day off. Upon entering the absence request page, she is shown how many sick days and contract days she has remaining. A quick glance shows she has 8 days left, plenty for what the thinks will only be a day away. If Jenny is able to enter her information before 7am, a call or email, based on supply teacher preference, will be put out to the teachers on the board's supply list automatically based on seniority (Bill 115 and Regulation 274). While waiting for a teacher to accept the position, Jenny takes the opportunity to upload her lesson plans for he day. These lesson plans are saved in the Quikonnex portal as well as emailed to the principal, school admin assistant and the supply teacher who accepts the assignment. By 6:45am, a supply teacher has accepted the position and Jenny can take the rest of the day knowing her class is in good hands. The supply teacher will have the opportunity to submit electronic feedback to Jenny through the Quikonnex portal based on that day. |
Marcel, a school principalMarcel receives an email at 6:35am notifying him that Jenny has had to book the day off ill. While some principals may be initially worried about who they'll have to call, Marcel knows that Quikonnex is already making contact. After finishing his morning coffee, he logs into Quikonnex using the app on his iPhone and sees that Jenny has uploaded her lesson plans for the day. As he begins making his way out the door, he receives a second notification that a supply teacher has accepted that day's assignment. He makes his way to the school to meet the supply teacher and help them get started for the day. |
Mae, a school board HR employeeMae's responsibility within the board is tracking teacher absences. Since making the transition to Quikonnex, she is able to see in a single console who is away for the day, who replaces and how many days each staff member has remaining for personal or illness. She receives a notification every morning at 7am sharing absences (including Jenny's), replacements, and days remaining all in one spot. Using conditial formatting in the app, Mae can customize her alerts based on days remaining of whether staff members have reaches board-specific thresholds. She is able to focus more on her role in one easy location thanks to Quikonnex. |
